Nonna's Kitchen

About Nonna's...

Growing up in South Florida, one of my best childhood friends had a gramma we all called Nonna. This silver-haired, roundish, Italian matriarch enjoyed nothing better than feeding a bunch of busy children anything but instant food. To her, every meal was an opportunity to not only nourish, but to love us. Proper manners were taught alongside every plateful. Advice for good living came with seconds (which we always had). Encouragement to achieve was sprinkled on every dessert. When I moved to the mountains, the cuisine sure changed, but my memories of Nonna's cooking and love never did. Over the years, her Italian influence and my "new Southern" upbringing merged together, giving me a passion for combining two of the best possible food groups on the planet. Italian and Southern? A delicious existence, indeed.

Fast forward to family life... just like Nonna would have wanted, we are a family of foodies who like to make good stuff. Even the kids are into it (well quality control, mostly). We have a bad habit of talking about good food, finding the right recipe, and then stretching it to its limits. Chocolate Heaven was the first such creation, and is now one of the sweetest things to hit the South since the Caramel Cake... which, incidentally, we've now got one of those too...

What does all this have to do with Nonna's Kitchen? Well, while we absolutely adore Chocolate Heaven (after all, it's how we got here), we want to also bring you other fabulous homemade stuff. And saying "Chocolate Heaven presents Caramel Bliss Cake" just sounded a wee bit confusing (is it chocolate caramel? is it blissful heaven?).  Nonna's Kitchen gives us a warm, cozy place to offer all kinds of goodies, letting each and every one shine in their own light, or, rather, on their own plate. So pull up a chair and have a slice with us.
